Grouting with none-shrink high performance Sikagrout

Grouting with Sikagrout Non-shrink MotarThis is the method statement for grouting with none-shrink high performance Sikagrout
Scope:   Application procedure with Sikagrou
Advantages:
  • No shrinkage, no cracks
  • High strength development
  • Excellent flow characteristics
1.  Material:
Sikagrout 212-11 and Sikagrout 214-11: non shrink-grout, self levelling premixed cementitious mortars.
Sikagrout 214-11 is suitable for larger grouting works than Sikagrout 212-11.
2.  Substrate preparation:
Remove all dust and debris from the substrate area using compressed air and/or water jet. On the day of application, soak the substrate thoroughly with clean water for a few hours to obtain a surface saturated dry (SSD) condition. Then remove the water and ensure that there is no ponding water prior to start work.
Concrete, mortar, stone: These substrates must be prepared by e.g. blastcleaning to be free from cement laitance, ice, standing water, grease, oils, old surface treatments or coatings and all loose or friable particles must be removed to achieve a contaminant free, open textured surface.
Steel: Must be cleaned and prepared thoroughly to an acceptable quality standard equivalent to SA 2.5 i.e. by blast cleaning and vacuum. Avoid dew point conditions.

3.  Formwork
Forming: The flowable consistency of the Sikagrout material requires the use of permanent or temporary forms to contain the material until it has hardened ie around base plates, for example. In order to prevent leakage or seepage, all of these formers must be sealed. Apply polyethylene film or wax / release agent to all forms to prevent adhesion of the grout.  Prepare the formwork to allow and maintain more than 100 mm liquid head to facilitate placement. A grout box equipped with an inclined trough attached to the form work will enhance the grout flow and minimize any air encapsulation.
4.  Mixing of SIKAGROUT 212-11 / 214-11
Pour required water quantity of water (3.75 liter per 25 kg bag) into a clean drum and add slowly Sikagrout 212-11/ 214-11 while mixing with a slow speed drill (max. 500 rpm) to minimize the amount of air entrained into the mixture. After 2 to 3 minutes of mixing, stir lightly with a spatula for a few seconds  – to release any entrapped air.  Sikagrout 212-11/ 214-11 is then poured immediately into the prepared formwork.
5.  Pouring the mix
Sikagrout 212-11/ 214-11 must be placed in one continuous operation to ensure that there is always sufficient head to pressure to keep the mortar flowing freely. If possible grout anchor bolts first, then the mortar bed in a second operation.
To assist the mortar under difficult working conditions, a number of mechanical aids can  be used:
-  Roding the mortar at the pouring opening with a steel rod or wooden stick
- Pulling loops of wire of chains through from the opposite end of the formwork
- Gentle tapping with a hammer on the sides of the formwork.
6.  Curing
Adequate  precautions must be taken with all cement-based mortars to prevent premature loss of moisture through evaporation.  This applies equally to polymer modified mortars. Exposed surfaces should be treated with a curing compound (i.e. Antisol E) or covered with plastic sheeting or damp cloth immediately after placing.  This covering should be  left in place for approx. three days (depending on climatic conditions).
