Design Guides for Offshore Structures: Offshore Pile Design

Design Guides for Offshore Structures - Offshore Pile Design
Despite the large amount of research carried out on the bearing capacity of piles and considerable experience built up in the installation of deep foundations onshore and offshore, pile design still presents many uncertainties. In fact the evaluation of the bearing capacity of piles by the various calculation method available often leads to very wide discrepancies . It is therefore important to guide the offshore foundation engineer by providing him with the means for a consistent approach to the problem and the information necessary for the different method used in designing piles under axial loading, in compression and in tension. This is the objective of this design guide “Offshore Pile Design”.
.
Based on the widest possible critical analysis of the state of the art and on the recent research result (including work by ARGEMA) on the behavior of piles subjected to static and cyclic loading, in tension and in compression. This design guide is limited to the design of Tabular piles and pile pr pile group subjected to axial loads with lateral loads representing only small fraction of the axial loads.
